計畫名稱:

用以處理台江內海地區時空資訊之協同研究平台的探索與建立

進行區域研究常須整合使用不同來源、不同型態、不同用途的各類時空資料集。多人協同進行研究並共享資料,更是跨領域整合型研究的常態。隨著資料量的增長,在資料的儲存檢索、計算分析、視覺圖示方面的效率與效用上的要求,也隨之增加。本計畫將建立分散式的時空資訊整合平台,以協助研究者共享計算資源,處理使用大量的時空資料。我們並將採用領域知識本體的方法,以富語意內涵的方式標記、儲存、呈現與連接各類共同蒐集的時空資料。此外,本研究將著重使用全球資訊網的技術標準以及開放原始碼軟體。

Project Title:

Collaborative Research Platforms for Spatio-temporal Information Processing with A Focus on the Tai-Jiang Inner Sea Area

Area studies researchers often need to use and cross-relate datasets from heterogeneous sources, of diverse types, and for multiple purposes. To conduct collaborative research works, in particular in multi-disciplinary projects, it is a norm for the various stakeholders to share and reuse their datasets. As the volume of datasets increase, so are the demands on the efficient and effective use of these datasets, ranging from their storage and search, computational modeling and analysis, to visualization. In this project we aim to research and build distributed platforms for spatio-temporal information processing. Our goal is to assist researchers to share computational resources effectively, and to process mass spatio-temporal datasets efficiently. We will also study and adapt methods based on domain ontologies to annotate, index, present, and link together spatio-temporal datasets that have been collaboratively collected. In addition, we emphasize the use of web standards and open source software in this project, so that the results can be freely disseminated and reused.
